Growth Hormone Release
Hexarelin produces the strongest GH pulse among commonly studied GHRPs. Studies show dose-dependent GH release that remains robust even in older subjects with declining pituitary function — an advantage over some other secretagogues. The GH response is additive with GHRH co-administration.
Cardioprotective Effects
Unique among GH secretagogues, hexarelin demonstrates significant cardioprotective properties through CD36 scavenger receptor activation — independent of GH release. Studies show reduced infarct size in ischemia-reperfusion models, improved cardiac function after coronary events, and protection against cardiac fibrosis.
Body Composition
Through elevated GH levels, hexarelin promotes lipolysis (fat breakdown) and supports lean mass preservation. GH-mediated effects include enhanced protein synthesis, improved recovery, and better sleep quality. However, the cortisol and prolactin elevations partially offset these benefits compared to cleaner GHRPs like ipamorelin.
