Saxenda escalation: 0.6 mg (week 1), 1.2 mg (week 2), 1.8 mg (week 3), 2.4 mg (week 4), 3.0 mg (week 5+). If 3.0 mg is not tolerated, discontinuation should be considered.
Administration
Liraglutide comes in pre-filled multi-dose injection pens — no reconstitution required. Inject subcutaneously in the abdomen, thigh, or upper arm. Rotate injection sites. Can be administered at any time of day, with or without meals.
Timing & Duration
Once-daily injection at the same time each day. Long-term continuous use — no cycling. Weight regain occurs upon discontinuation. For diabetes, treatment continues as long as benefit is maintained.
Storage
- Unopened pens: Refrigerate at 2–8°C
- In-use pens: Room temperature (up to 30°C) or refrigerated for up to 30 days
- Do not freeze. Do not use if frozen.
